The Inheritance We Have in Christ Jesus and the Promises Made and Fulfilled

Our inheritance in Christ begins with understanding that we were once without hope, estranged from the promises of God.

Chapter 1: The Foundation of Our Inheritance

Our inheritance in Christ begins with understanding that we were once without hope, estranged from the promises of God. But through Christ, every dividing wall was broken, and we were brought near to the Father’s covenant. Inheritance is not earned; it is received by virtue of relationship. Through faith in Jesus, we are adopted into God’s family and given full access to what belongs to Him. This inheritance is both spiritual and eternal—covering salvation, sonship, and every promise secured by the blood of Christ.

📖 Ephesians 1:11 (AMP) – “In Him also we have received an inheritance [a destiny—we were claimed by God as His own], having been predestined (chosen, appointed beforehand) according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will.”

Chapter 2: The Promises Secured in Christ

Every promise God ever made finds its “Yes” and “Amen” in Christ. What the prophets longed to see, we now live in. The promise of forgiveness, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life are realities we enjoy. God is not a man that He should lie; what He spoke in the old covenant was fulfilled through Jesus. He is the assurance that the blessings of Abraham are now ours—not by the law, but by faith. Christ is the fulfillment of the covenant, ensuring that what was once shadow is now substance in Him.

📖 2 Corinthians 1:20 (AMP) – “For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] ‘Yes.’ So through Him we say our ‘Amen’ to the glory of God.”

Chapter 3: The Riches of Grace as Our Portion

Our inheritance is not measured in silver or gold but in the riches of God’s grace. This grace is abundant, overflowing, and sufficient for every season of life. Through Christ, we are forgiven, redeemed, and continually sustained. Grace ensures that even when we fall short, we do not lose our inheritance. It is not dependent on human effort but on the finished work of Christ on the cross. This unearned favor keeps us secure, lifting us into a life of victory, holiness, and purpose.

📖 Ephesians 1:7 (AMP) – “In Him we have redemption [that is, our deliverance and salvation] through His blood, [which paid the penalty for our sin and resulted in] the forgiveness and complete pardon of our sin, in accordance with the riches of His grace.”

Chapter 4: The Holy Spirit as the Guarantee

The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance. His presence within us is God’s seal, assuring us that we belong to Him. The Spirit comforts, empowers, teaches, and guides us into the fullness of our inheritance. Just as a guarantee ensures future possession, the Spirit guarantees that what is unseen will surely come to pass. He is both our present helper and the witness that our eternal inheritance is secure in Christ.

📖 Ephesians 1:13–14 (AMP) – “In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation—and when you believed in Him—were sealed [marked, branded as God’s own] with the Holy Spirit of the promise, [who is given as an installment—the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.”

Chapter 5: Walking in the Fulfillment of the Promise

Our inheritance is not just a future hope—it is a present reality. We are called to walk in victory, health, peace, wisdom, and divine provision as sons and daughters of the King. While eternity holds the fullness, we are invited to taste it here on earth. By faith, we enforce the promises of God in our daily lives. We overcome fear, poverty, sin, and death by standing on the Word, declaring what Christ has already secured. Our inheritance is meant to be lived, not just awaited.

📖 Romans 8:17 (AMP) – “And if we are [His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.”
